Title: New kid on the block! 8v with 2L bottom end!
Post by: knobby on 13 August 2005, 18:12
Hi Guys

Ok speaking to a new member today who has done what i am in the progress of doing.. 1.8 8v head with a 2L bottom end, and with a Performance cam, vernier, P&P, and a few other bits. Take a look at the below video of this guys speedo, from a standing start to 120, he hits 60 in just over 5 seconds... Very respectable if you ask me.

Can wait to get mine sorted and together!!!!

Cheers

I have to say that video is interesting and the needle does shoot up rather quickly , what hp is it expected to kick out ? is it possible for it to do 0-60 that quick from those  mods ??

What is the gearing on the car ? is he running anything else on the car ? is it stripped out ?

Brett

I can't answer all your questions.. hey when he comes back online i'll get home to pop onto the forum.

All i thought about is perhaps it was on a rolling road....???

that would be mine , not sure about power figures yet, havent got round to getting it on the rollers, its a gti gearbox, i 've tried others but i lost accelleration, its not stripped out, tbh tho i would say over 5 secs is a bit optimistic, i think its more around the 6sec mark, it was wheel spinning a little so it wasnt completely accurate, im pleased with it tho and definatley recommend doing it, here are some pics of the car,
sorry there a bit big

i used a mk2 gti one, only cos i brought a new one for my old engine before i decided what i was gonna do, if i planned it i would of got a uprated one although its doing a good job at the mo, its only the tires that slip

The answer is a v quick mk2.  I raced a seat ibiza 2.0 16v the other night which run the newer ABF engine. I was quicker off the mark and up to 110 but then i ran out of gears and he crept slowly past me. Dam 5th gear and my small intake manifold! I was gutted and looked a fool as id waved goodbye when i got him off the line but then he waved goodbye as he crept past me at 120.  :embarassed: Still my car looks cooler and id of lashed him on corners.
