So I am new to this forum but have owned Black Edition 35 from new since April last year. Done 22k in it since then, always ran it on Shell VPower, clean it relentlessly, not one mark on wheels but stone chipped to hell after the local councils throw a bit of glue down and a truck load of stones. Infuriates me. Gonna get a respray and send them the invoice.
Having had the Mk5 Gti before in a manual, opted for DSG on the new one. Best thing I ever did. This car is so much better than Mk5, I absolutely love it.
Anyway, I am looking for advice about making it sound better. It sounds OK now, but I would just like it to sound a little more throaty without being Saxo chav. Any recommendations?
Never done any mods to any car other than cosmetic.
Photo's below in case anyone is interested.

Very Tideeee.....Luv the wheels

The black looks stunning
Milltek is the exhaust of choice with them offering either a resonated or non resonated option.
I run a Blueflame which isn't a popular choice, but it was the addition of the down pipe with 100 CEL CAT which gave it the nice burble and pops, sounds fantastic and does not drone or sound like a Corsa.

Gorgeous looking car
"cleaning it relentlessly" - yep, that's the downside of black cars. Check out the forum's detailing section, but be prepared - you'll end up spending a fortune on detailing stuff!
I've managed to avoid the scourge of the dreaded stone chip but sadly have marks on two wheels, grrr. Will refurb them at some point.

BCS Power valve exhausts have been getting good write ups.
Also the K04 turbo on your car responds very well to a map .

Thanks all for comments. The wheels have people divided I think, but I think they look fantastic on the black and candy white cars. 19's as well, the extra inch makes all the difference! The ladies love them.
No issue with relentless cleaning, I can happily spend an entire day doing it. So satisfying when finished until some numpty sprays his windscreen in front of you. Gutted.
Since posting that last night (have to admit shot from the hip and posted prior to reading many threads on here), I have read a lot about the question I initially asked. I love what Nige @ BCS did to Neil's GTI, looks and sounds amazing. He mentions some group buy, so I'm gonna see what is going on there

car looks stunning and well used, always nice to see a 3 door
zorst wise the usual suspects have a great tone and burble and give some much needed additional girth to tips, in reality an open aftermarket intake is what causes more noise issues

The Glendale's don't look bad on a Carbon Steel Grey either .
I've had more positive comments than negative.

Nice to see so many people on here with the Edition 35, you don't see many on the road.
Agreed on wheels with grey also. TBH I'm a big fan of the wheels so if I owned any colour Golf, I would consider them. Most people say that they are not really into black wheels, but these are sweet.
Anyway, back to noise - I guess you don't know until you try. Everyone is different in what they like/dislike, but I am desperate not to make it chav. Discrete with a little more heart is what I'm looking for.
Can't believe I have owned 2 gti's and never got my @ss on here. Learnt all sorts last night with my 4 pack of export. Any kind of days organised anywhere specifically for golfs so I can look what other people have been up to?
Not into meeting McDonald's car park if you know what I mean?

Wigit - so would you go for intake before pipes to get the required mod I am looking for?
-
Nice looking car there!
If I was you I would get an induction kit first (I have a Carbonio) as that gives it a deeper throaty noise, then if that isn't enough for you I would meet someone nearby who has a Milltek or other aftermarket exhaust just incase that is too loud for you
-
Looks stunning mate, I'd look at the miltek and the bcs power valve. The benefit of the power valve is that the 'noise' is only there when you give it a boot full.
-
Thanks once again for tips and advice. I'm gonna get this done in the next few weeks (when I actually decide what to do). Will keep you posted.
Small things and all that, but I'm proper excited.

i went for a full exhaust system and a Stage 2 remap without an after market intake for a good 9 months, i have a Revo open style intake now and there is more induction noise
all depends what you want out of the car, nice cat back adds to the experience

Welcome awp - wherabouts in Leeds are you? Good to see another Yorkshire member!

Out along A65 - NW Leeds. Even had sun recently.

looks great ! a 3 door version of mine... black wheels all the way, my last 3 cars have had the black look. Gives it the racing look rather than another black car...
Let us know the exhaust you go for and your thoughts.
