Title: Tyre dressing
Post by: Rhyso on 15 July 2013, 22:21
Looking for something that lasts longer than the 100 yards to the end of my street and gives a wet look

What are you guys / girls using these days?

Plenty out there but autosmart Highstyle 5L tub just because I have it laying around. Paint brush on, leave over night. stays dark and glossy for weeks.

I use Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel which lasts well.  Leaves a gloss finish which gets glossier the more coats you apply.

Have also tried Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel but was less impressed with it compared to the Megs.

Yeah my mate with a bodybshop uses the Highstyle

I found the megs stuff very flingy and would leave the wheel almost as soon as I applied it  :undecided:

Megs endurance
G-techniq T1 layered
Zaino Z16
Autosmart highstyle

All good and last reasonably well but none of them will last ages in all honesty, to get the best out of any tyre dressing you need to get the tyres really really clean and grease free.

The dressings are slowly getting better and more durable as time goes on but due to the obvious grief tyres go through and what they come into contact with its not surprising they don't last that long but good prep will always help.

That's weird, I've never had that

It lasts about 2 weeks on mine.  I apply it to very clean tyres using the purpose made Megs foam applicator.

I exaggerated a little but for me it lasted no longer than a week

Megs you need to apply and then wipe over again.  I found it attracted dust - not a fan of the gel type dressings.  Angle Wax Elixir is also worth a look if you like a more natural finish.  This is also very good: http://spautopia.co.uk/exterior-car-care/wheel-care/rubber-dub-tyre-and-rubber-dressing

+1 for Quarts Tyre Dressing.  By far the best I've ever used.  Lasts for ages, and a breeze to apply.  The ease of a water based gel, but the longevity of silicone gel.

Finally got round to using Quarts tyre dressing yesterday.
I have to say I'm really impressed with the ease of application and the finished look. I'd say the finish is more satin than gloss.
I've never used a tyre dressing before so I've got nothing to compare it to but so far so good.

Just got myself some Quartz dressing which I've applied to my used tyres.
Results seem pretty good, will see how long it lasts and update.

a quick footnote though, the 1 litre bottles I received appeared to have been opened, and are about 2/3'ish full.
Any of you guys receive them this way?

cheers

A bit of a moot point seeing as Quarts shelves have been empty for quite some time now but none the less -

here's a couple of snaps of my tyres after using the tyre shine; two week gap between the two photos and there is absolutely no need to re-apply, they still look like it was applied yesterday.
I'm very impressed. That said i have no frame of reference because its a new product to me.

Nice pics.

I know, it's great stuff.  Shame it's run out. And though you have no frame of reference, I have many and it has out performed them all.
