Just bought a 1.8t agu.
Its been running rough, changed the maf, plugs and coils, temperature sensor and 02 sensor.
Whilst under the bonnet ive found this pipe just sitting there not connected to anything, does anybody know where it goes? does it need blocking off?
It does have an induction kit fitted.

What engine code ia it mate? There will be a tab on the left side of the head at the front with 3 letters e.g AGU, AUM or AUQ
-
Its an AGU engine.
-
could be a breather pipe for the engine ,whats it connected to on the other end.
-
It goes round the back of the engine up towards the turbo, cant get a good look what its joined onto.
-
get us a shot slightly further away
-
Is that any better?

is it clipped to that small pipe if so ill check mine ?
-
no its just swinging free, you can pick it up and move it around.
-
looking at mine i can see were it goes but on yours theres another pipe on it. It has the same shape angle and clip on it ,it goes on were the temp sensor is . :undecided:

The pipe that's joined to the temperature sensor at the moment goes into the bulkhead, i'm really puzzled now, if that pipe goes onto the temp sensor where does the pipe go that's on there at the minute?

it is strange as my pipe goes up behind the engine. I can not see a straight pipe like yours.
-
Where does you're pipe go to that comes out the bulkhead just behind the dump valve area?
if i can find out where that goes i might be able to change them over and hopefully cure the poor running its currently got.
Sorry for all the questions and thank you for helping me to try and sort.
-
ill have a look in a bit as the engine is well hot ,im not putting my hand behind there lol. I want to see where the pipe thats disconnected goes, i dont have a torch at the moment and its parked in a hot garage. Where does the pipe thats connected go on yours any chance of picture ?
-
the pipe with the jubilee clip is where it comes out the bulkhead and comes down straight onto the end of the temp sensor.
I reckon your'e right about the pipe that's disconnected should go onto the end of the temp sensor, but where does the pipe that's connected at the moment go then?
No problem when you get chance if you could have a look it would be much appreciated.

What ill do is get a torch from mine and check tomorrow where the disconnected pipe goes and if you could get a pic of where your one goes that connected and ill check on my car. You can see why your car runs bad , i had a car like yours and i connected them all up right only to make it run worse. God do you think i could fix it, iv spent years stripping engines and rebuilding them ,put bigger engine in car and wired it up, NVQ 2 .Ill never buy a car off a polish guy again lol.
-
ok will do thanks.
-
i got the picture you posted and can see it behind the dv, going into the heater .Its been dune for a reason /bad DIY job. i have a camera and will work it out and post pictures to show you tomorrow.
-
ok great thanks, hopefully i can get it sorted then.
-
That's strange, looks like some kind of coolant pipe to me, also you can see a clip that it should be sitting in just to the left of it.
Does the pipe have a part number printed onit? Also it looks like its been cut to me.
-
No there's no part number on the pipe, thanks to James2 we think it should go onto the temp sensor, he's taking some pics of his today hopefully to see where it should go.
The pipe that's connected goes from the temp sensor straight into the heater through the bulkhead.
-
looks like they've just left the old one in there after replacing it
-
yeah looks like its just been replaced and left there, it connects up to the bulkhead pipe you showed in picture behind dv.
-
I've have now sorted out the mystery pipe.
Somebody had disconnected the pipes from the heater matrix.
Both ends of the pipe connected and job done.
No visible leaks so why it was disconnected is a mystery.
Thanks for all the help.
