After some help identifying what a plug is for in my engine bay.
The engine/engine loom is 1999 T reg 1.8T, the plug in question has the same part number as the headlight plugs (but it isnt for that). It is part of the engine loom and is near the plugs for the altitude sensor, and the 2 plugs that plug into the airbox.
Heres a few pics.
Its location on the loom

The distance between it and the altitude sensor & Airbox plugs

Isn't there some sort of module that clips to the inside wing behind the passenger side headlight?
-
This plug is too far from the passenger headlight.
Its been suggested that it might plug into the "lower" loom on ukmkiv's. Do you know if the engine loom actually plugs into the main car loom in the engine bay? It would make sense if it does.
Been such a long time since i stripped this car down

Connects engine loom to car loom and sends coolant temp, few lives, and oil pressure wire, earth and a couple others to the interior car loom/clocks.
Wont go far without it.
Early models were in the black trunking on left, later down by the battery tray.
