Hey just bought a gti 53 plate got some big plans but first things first , i have an annoying sound coming from the back offside wheel , only does it when wheel is turning , sounds like when you run your finger around the rim of a wine glass and it does that whining sound , anyone else had this problem or can make suggestions??

Like a squeal?
Brakes? Pads vibrating...or a slightly warped disk perhaps.

As above. Or the backing plate or sometng like a stone trapped in between that and the disc. Possibly a bearing. Does the wheel get hot? As that would be an indication that breaks are binding. Best get it jacked up and spin the wheel to see if there is anything obvious.

had it on the lift and brake machine didnt do it in the garage , but as soon as you go on the road and go over like 10mph it starts an does not shut up, the wheel doesnt get hot though , you recon the brake disc and pads need a clean then ??

A strip down and a clean up would be a good start mate. Both sides really for the sake of. A general inspection of the pads and discs for wear and make sure the slides or moving. The speed on brake machines isn't much and will only really test the brake function.

And then make sure you get some copper grease, or equivilant on the back of the brake pads.
