Title: Sticky throttle pedal after steam cleaning engine!! Help please .....
Post by: the rokus P.G.A on 09 July 2013, 16:27
Good day people...

I had my engine bay on my 89 8v gti cleaned the other day and then the next day I had a sticky throttlr pedal.
By that I mean normally pedal very light and easy to apply a minute amount of throttle. But now I have to almost push past a resistence before too much throtle comes in jerking under accelearation.
Ive GT85d the throttle body pully bit..sorry dont know what its called and also tried to get some fluid down the between the cable and the casing. still doing it. It doesnt feel like theres any resistance when I pull the cable manually on the throttle that the cable is connected to.

Please help guys I dont really want to take it to a garage if its something simple...

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the oil or grease has been washed out of either the throttle mech on the engine or the cable sheath has no lubricant in it. Try some wd40 down the throttle cable sheath.

you could just take cable of and run some 3 in 1 oil down It and work the cable at same time. they are easy to take off. or you could unclip throttle body end of cable and hold it up to run the oil down it.
