Title: Best place to sell?
Post by: Mr_Ed_35 on 08 July 2013, 13:26
Hi there,

I'm looking to privately sell my GTI edition 35 and was wondering if you guys (and girls) could recommend the best place for me to sell it  so I can get the best price?

Thanks very much

Auto Trader is as good a place as any, but expect a car so new to attract independent traders trying to beg it from you.

+1 my phone was ringing within 10 minutes of placing the ad. A trader did actually buy my gti funnily enough. The price offered was more or less what I was expecting tbo. Probably could have held out for more.

last two cars i've sold i have used both autotrader and pistonheads, autotrader is far from cheap these days, pistonheads lest you write more about the car

my rocco went via pistonheads and sh!tty for the city went via autotrader

From my experience this is what I have discovered

Autotrader - If your car is worth over 5k
Piston heads - If your car is modded or a performance vehicle of some sort
Ebay - If you have a lot time like getting messed around
Gumtree - if you have a cheap motor to get rid off

I would use pistonheads from past experience for cars like these.

Agreed, a normal car definitely Autotrader, and something a bit special Pistonheads.

I have managed to sell cars off both sites within a week.
