Title: Cam shaft ID
Post by: gizago on 07 July 2013, 22:59
Ive had a search and a google, but can't seem to find out what I need.
I have a cam that came with a car I bought, but the seller had no idea what it was, other than it was 'hot'.
There are no part numbers that give away what it might be, but I have measured it accross the base circle and from the heal to the nose.-

hi its definatly not standard as the standard cam is about 10-10.5mm lift. that one you got there is 11.5 yeah?

268 degrees duration with 11.5 mm of lift would be a reasonable guess.

basicfast road cam,  nothing mental,  shoud idel like std  with a bit more kick up top

Cheers guys- any idea what manufacturer or grind it might be? The box it came is unmarked so no help there. The guy I got the car from told me that the cam fitted was a fast road cam ( but gave no numbers) and that this one was even hotter than that, but from what you guys are saying this one might be fairly mild. What lift and duration is a stock cam?

unless there ae more marks cant really help you as to who made it.

they are usally stampd on the end

if it was stamped GS*H   it would be from kent cams.

BP***   it would likely be from piper

if it's not one of those it liley newman

I can't see any more markings but ill double check. I'm used to aircooled stuff which is usually clearly stamped. Cheers for the help so far guys.

a G stamped on its own
the letters WZO
049G
and Germany.
