Title: 2009 MK6 GT TDI 140BHP Golf Remap
Post by: passant on 07 July 2013, 14:11
Hello,

Considering getting my car remapped to the 170 (like the GTD).

I do use the car daily for long distance travelling on the motorway, so need the good fuel economy (BORING) rather than the POWER.

Is this a good idea? Is there any underlying issues with this, for example gear box not being able to handle the extra power or (that was a bad example but anything like that)?

Will it effect my fuel economy drastically?

Thank you!

Tom.

P.S. Its a 2009 MK6 Golf GT TDI 140

Fuel economy wont be affected - if youre cruising no more fuel is being used.
the tendency is to use the xtr apower of course, which will then use 15% more fuel approx, but if you avaerage it all out you wont notice a drop in mpg.  some people actuall see gains as the engine can pull easier in longer gears.
