Hiya all,

Back on this forum again, 1st time in ages.

Basically back into the golf gti!

Had the car recently serviced, good points and bad points (as per my other posts)

Best points though, is my small local garage used Engine flush and gas treatment for some reason..... It worked, the car feels brilliant now!

Responsive, eager, bubbly and fun, everything a gti should be all about.

The car has always been dull before, I just reasoned that it was inline with all those vw "reassuring quality" (but sensible choice) adverts etc.  I brought the car 1yr old, 2006 from main dealer.  long life oil, main dealer service every couple of years or so

Now owned for 7 years, at 76k miles, and I finally see the light about the fuss over GTIs 8)

Never too late 8)

I'm reluctant to use an engine flush for fear of clogging up stuff or discovering new leaks/holes. Bet it would help though.:)

aye id only use engine oil flush treatment on an engine i knew the history off, ie it was flushed every other service.

the petrol treatment though for decoking heads etc i think is a good idea - and can be used at any time - http://www.terraclean.co.uk/

Engine flush is one of the worst things you can do to a engine, it tends to dislodge crap that can end up blocking oilways or oil pipes.

that last comment is only true of cars that are old and have a build up of "sludge" on cars that are relatively clean ( i know the argument of its clean it dont need it but.. )  then it does a good job at freeing any sticking piston rings, can help with sticky HVA's and removes any laquer build up... its quite useful for my line of BMWs that i tend to work on particularly with valvetronic and vanos systems... wont be using it on my mk2 golf though :)
