Yeah that's the plan, it'll sit in the mk6 and mk3 Scirocco group so might be some tough competition!

Looking good.
Saturday and Sunday?
I'm there Sunday - tearing down the strip with a few other R's

Haha!! That was fun when i got home!! :D Unfortunately it looks like i'm gonna miss it this year cos the none of the miserable feckers i work with will swap callout with me! >:( There is still hope but we'll see, it'll be sunday if anything tho so good luck in the show n shine mate! :afro:

I've just spent a full 2 days on mine and I'm still not finished.
Are you in the show and shine or concourse Neil? From experience, standard looking cars do better in the concourse, plus we are a more sociable bunch.
Edit.
Just noticed you're going on Saturday.
-
I'll be coming for a ride out tomorrow to Inters, cars not looking it cleanest so will be stashed out the way somewhere
-
How do you get your cars there without them getting dirty ?
-
Drive slowly.
They will need a clean when you get there. If the roads are dry, then a quick detail and tyre shine is enough, but often it'll need a wash. There is usually water on site, so it's not a problem. A decent pump sprayer is a good tool to have.

How'd the show and shine go?
-
Good turn out. Only three cars in my class but the other cars were mates so they voted 1st place for each others cars which meant I never got a look in, gutted really because although their cars were modded they weren't anywhere near as clean as mine. Never mind, great day. Take ya sun cream cos there's absolutely no shaded areas!
-
I saw your car there it looked good. I WAS goign to run the 1/4 but I didnt have long sleeve shirts and pants so they wouldnt let me run. "IN THE INTERESTS OF SAFETY, anyone driving on the strip at Shakespeare County Raceway is required to show a full driving licence and wear a crash helmet. it’s best to bring your own helmet but they will also be available for hire on the day" Nothing about clothing there.
I ended up putting APR summer sale flyers on REVO cars.

Cheers mate, there were a few little cock ups!

Looks great mate!

Looks fantastic dubber, lot of effort no doubt
It's such a shame that the daily driver/unmodded cars don't get much of a chance in show n shine. It's more effort to keep a daily looking good as it's in constant use.

I was talking to Neil Birkett about this. There is the show n shine for modified cars, with their individual classes, then a concourse for standard cars. The trouble is, the concourse is always won by cars that only ever get driven to shows and never carry passengers, so cars like mine never get a look in.
I think that there should be a daily driver class, but how can you be sure that a car is genuinely a daily driver? All that will happen is the concourse cars that don't quite make it will claim they are dailys and enter the "easier" class.

Ditto!

Fair play for trying to keep a daily driver to such a high level of cleanliness, but that would send me round the twist every time I drove the car trying not to get it 'too' dirty.
Does look good in pics though

I can see what you mean, but everyday cars do get dirty though, so no point in stressing about it too much, you just have to clean them more often. It's a never ending vicious circle though

Not that often. Minimal contact and all that.

Good point.
But within the space of one week, mine has about a million bugs splattered on it, a ton of dust and the only window clean enough to see out of is the windscreen! Only a full clean is gonna shift it all.

Oh I am fine with our cars, they are a 'normal' level of clean, certainly not suitable for any kind of show though

I've just got my concourse scores from Neil Birkett.
Paint and body 17/20
Interior 18/20
Engine bay 18/20
Wheels & tyres 18/20
Underside 18/20
TOTAL 89/100
Note to self. Must try harder next time.

Those seem pretty respectable scores, given it's not just a show car........but to a perfectionist, room for improvement
