Title: Cambelt Cover removal for an ABF fitted with Aircon
Post by: Adezmk3 on 05 July 2013, 10:58
Hi

Apologies if this has already been covered, I have done a few searches and haven't found anything to help with this.

I am changing the cambelt on my ABF which has aircon fitted and hence a huge auxiliary belt tensioner.

I have removed pretty much everything to give me access to the belt but cannot get the lower cover off! I have managed to remove the annoyingly placed nut behind the auxiliary belt tensioner, but am now struggling to wiggle the cover out. Is there a knack to this? Should the auxiliary belt tensioner be removed all together to get it out of the way?

Please help

Cheers

Adrian

I take it you have removed the crank pulley?

About four 10mm bolts and its off.

I got it off in the end, like all these things there seems to be a bit of a knack to it to get the cover at the right angle so it pulls past the tensioner.

I've ditched the auto cambelt tensioner and fitted a manual one, put new plugs in while I was there and the car now purrs
