Title: Collection checks
Post by: GolfTi on 04 July 2013, 17:17
Anything I should be looking out for?

I remember with the mk6 it was fog lamp covers and MDI cables which were the problem.

Things to check seem to be rear indicators, two key fobs.

Anything else?

Just check as much as you can, including all lights and as much electronic stuff as possible.  Also thoroughly inspect the outside because that dent or scratch you notice the next day would be hard to prove it was there when you collected it.

Oh, I see you are asking about specifics for the Mk7?  Like stuff others have had problems with?

Check all the lights work for one thing!

Check the indicators flash fully. Think joe collected his GTi and they'd been wired wrong. Also check the wipers. A lot of complaints about them squeaking. Maybe raise this with the dealership.

Check the tread on the tyres , on my last Audi both near side tyres had been damaged when they put in on or took it off the transporter  , they never picked it up on the garage PDi  luckily I saw it , so then i had too wait while they Fitted two new tyres , got a free service out of them for it

Check the rear lights work!!!!

First thing I looked at were the alloys for any sign of scuffs. Glance down each side of the body and look for dings. If both these are ok you are doing well... Other niggles can be sorted out much more easily!

I was lucky my car was in the showroom gleaming under the lights so any flaws would have been obvious. I collected a car years ago in the lashing rain and the big dirty scratch on the bonnet wasn't apparent until the following day... Grrrrr!

Thanks all

I need to be strong and check the car thoroughly and not go all soft when I see all that gleaming black metal.
