Got to drive a 5 door GTI today at Whitchurch VW. Impressions, very good. In comfort mode the car rides superbly on rutted typically poor B roads (on the 18"). Acceleration is excellent, plenty of grunt. Seats are good, but lack upper back support. Interior quality is OK, not great, but on a par with BMW. Pro satnav looks very good. Brakes are very aggressive, but nicely positive, only need a slight touch. Manual gearbox is spot on, great action, easy fast change.
Overall I thought it a quality device, exhaust note was a bit too muted to me, but sounded good nevertheless.
If you're on the fence, just buy one, you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to get mine, week 36 now...

Nice little write up. Did you know id changed from a GTD to a GTI now. Can not wait. Week 42 for me which isn't bad when you consider I only ordered 2 July!
Sounds like nearly all the dealer demo cars have ACC and Pro Nav.
