Hi all,
Can anyone confirm that these connections are still mounted in the armrest please. I've specced it based on the mk6 fitment but didn't check it is still the same for the mk7! I'm guessing it is?!

I think it's in the glovebox.

They are in the ashtray :) - or at least they are on the GT :)

Nope, it's now in the cubby hole behind the gear stick under the AC controls.

They are where the ashtray is in the MK6, not the armrest. The armrest storage is massive in mkvii compared to mkvi

Could've sworn I'd seen it in the armrest in the mk6 but there you go. Never used this cubbyhole at all in my mk6 GTD so this is good for me!

Don't think there is a USB socket? It may just be a lead that connects to the MDI similar to ipod lead

I'm pretty sure you can connect an external HDD (on pro nav only maybe). I better find my source for this again to be sure!

I think the USB goes on the same place as the MDI (ashtray) just a different cable (like it was for the MK6)
My mates MK7 GT did not get supplied with a USB cable

The USB socket and AUX is in the ashtray in front of the gear stick as per the pics above. I think you lose the USB socket if you spec MDI (MDI is not standard in Ireland)
The SD card slots are in the glovebox with the cd slot.

My dealer said you only get the iPod lead for the MDI if you want a USB lead its extra (even though I got both on my MK6). So when I part ex I will be robbing the USB from my MK6. Think the USB lead is £38 on the VW website.

Here is a quote from the Skoda Columbus system:
Conditions for proper connection
›Only USB devices with the specification 2.0 can be connected.
› The version of the file allocation table FAT (File Allocation Table) of the connected device must be FAT16 ( <2 GB) or FAT32 (> 2 GB).
›In order to replay from a unit with a hard disk (HDD) which includes a large data
volume, it can lead to a time delay when reading in the overview of the music

can lead to a time delay when scanning the audio files.

So still not sure if the Pro Nav can connect an HDD or flash drive to the USB port, but the Skoda system apparently can.

Given that the latest MDI update for the MK6 improved the USB read speeds dramatically - I would imagine read speeds will be tolerable :)
Looks like I need to 'lose' my USB lead from the MK6 too :wink:

No USB socket in the glovebox or anywhere else - alternative lead is the only way to do it, it would seem. Confirmation the Ipod socket can take a USB lead instead of an Ipod lead? If so I will keep the one from my Roc.
USB slower than SD card data exchange? Maybe a reason to favour the SD card (and it's size)? My USB stick works well enough for me in the Roc currently.
