Nice to see this has dropped in price some more, now down to £199 for cars bought between now and end of Sept 2013. (only this price if buying on VW Solutions Finance)

Well my dad's GTD was coming with "free" servicing and the dealer kind of assumed he was going via solutions when the deal was struck. When it was clear that he wasn't, the dealer asked my dad for the £110 difference between service pack price via solutions and service plan price for a cash purchase (£249/£359), with the car registered on July 1st.
The £249 offer wasn't even on when I ordered mine late March (it came in for April) and got offered free servicing (again on the assumption I was going through solutions, but now I won't be as my dad has offered to lend me the money at 2.9%-same as he's getting via his ISA right now), so if he tries the same on with me (to pay £110) i'll not be pleased. If he insists then i'll be looking to pay only £50 difference between £249 and £299 as it was always going to be a £249 (cost to dealership) freebie days after ordering.

It's all relative tho'. Driving round in a car financed on Solutions is always going to be ultimately more expensive that regular HP, bank loan or cash. So the small saving on a service pack (that is also rolled into the amount financed, therefore interest paid on) will make little difference to the overall cost.

Yeah £199 relative to £249 is £50 cheaper.

Interesting. I hadn't added this to my order but do you think this price would apply if I added it in the weeks running up to delivery? It was good value even before the price drop!

You can buy it on the day you pick the car up, and pay outright or add it to your finance.

I have asked for it and i'll be requesting it at the reduced price. If the dealer says no, i'll just cancel it and add it back on :smiley:

If you look at the small print on the website for VW UK - price is tied to the car's delivery date. Retail sales registered between 01 July and 30 Sep. If you already specced it at full £249/£359 make sure you get the discounted rate!

Yeah £199 relative to £249 is £50 cheaper.
The point I was trying to make was that in order to get it for £199, you have to sign up for Solutions, which as we all know is the most expensive way to ride round in a new car.

Mine is currently on solutions so I called and they are knocking down the price to £199'vs the £249 it was originally at. Having said that, I may well just finance the car myself, but plenty of time to decide!
If you are sticking with solutions, you might as well make sure you get the £50 knocked off.
