Title: Golf gearbox info needed

Long story short is that summits happened inside my gearbox n the car won't even roll so I'm guessing I need a new gearbox...

Iv got a X reg MK4 Gti 1.8t ARZ

The question is... Will a box out of a 2.0 8v fit? Iv heard that the ratios will be different? It's just a temp as my pal has one sitting. Any info on gearbox codes etc is appreciated
