Hi, new to the site and was looking for a bit of advice.
I have recently bought my self a 2001 mk4 Golf 1.8T AUM with a measly 36,000 on the clock.
If it wasnt too expensive i was looking into fitting cruise control because i do a lot of motorway and it would help the MPG out a bit. As far as i know it is just replacing the indicator stalk, adding a loom and plugging a VAG in.
Does anyone know anywhere that can do the VAG part if i were to install the rest or maybe do it all for me for an all in price?
Thanks, Shaun.

You need two looms, the stalk and someone with vagcom to activeate the cruse control this pdf explains all. :)

Just spoken to VW and they have said the kit is around £80. Does that sound like a good price, thats with the loom inc
-
yes, they are going for a little more than that on ebay!
-
Awesome! Now just someone with a VAGCOM and practicality :P. VW wanted 321 in total including labour but i didnt want to pay that much haha! 117 an hour -_-.
Anyone on here near Berkshire up for the challenge and a bit of cash?
-
There are plenty of guides around. Just becareful when removing the steering wheel.

Browse in the garage - diagnostics se :smiley:ction. Has a list of VAGCOM users!

last time I checked they wanted a lot more! might have to get it!
see what price it is once the vw discount is applied ;)

You can buy the stalks on ebay for about £20. Then it is just a case of buying the loom...that is what I'm going to do.
-
I will do this at some point, anyone know the price of the two looms?

I have just checked their website and they are wanting £180 inc VAT. i think i would prefer them do it than me cut a wrong wire or something stupid!
-
There is no wire cutting is there. Just find a good guide and follow it.
DIY!!!!! Much more satisfaction, and then you can afford a few beers after - not before you go driving mind!

Unfortunately i have been a lazy sod and booked it in :P. it is £216 inc parts labour and call out. a bit pricey but i know its being done by a professional thats doing it while i work! A Guide i saw showed adding some cables into the ECU Clip and tapping into one or two cables!
Im normally reluctant to pay out for things like this so i see it as a treat :P. couple of days cash should sort it haha
