Yesterday I was on my way to pick up my girlfriend from work I was a little bit late so I was in abit of a rush when I got onto the half a mile bit of motorway I have to go up I decided to give it the beans as there was no one around at all really as I was accelerating I got to about 50/60 ish heard a very loud pop and the golf then sounded like a jet engine  I had a little grin cause I knew exactly what it was but was equally surprised it had done it! I installed the boost hoses well over a year ago so I presumed they were on there nice and tight, I suspected it to be the 3" long one from the I.C to the pancake as I remember struggle to get that one on properly all that time ago but it was the one thats behind the headlight that goes to the throttle body!
its easy enough to put back on which il be doing later as youve got to drop the bumper and headlight to get it on right. Now the question is ive had a pretty loud hiss/suction noise for a long time coming from that area, I didnt think much of it as it was boosting correctly holding at 8/9psi could it of been that pipe not on correctly but on enough to not effect the boost ?

if that hose popped of im sure your engine would have stalled.
-
Nope no stalling I just kept it bellow 2k im currently putting it back on and the clamp on the ic end keeps slipping off arrrggghhh
-
Use happen on my gti all time its a p1ss take mine use to cut out so pretty dangerous if doing speed. Get a propee jubilee clip on it that sorted it for me.
-
yeah mines just died when it happened, pretty scary experience lol
-
Well that lasted all of 20 minutes of driving  stupid thing
-
After fitting my IC the first time around the pipes were always popping off - next time round I went JCS Hi Grip jubilees on every joint - not popped off once
-
Frustrating is the least I can say ! Its the most pain in the ass one to get to lol I took it for a drive yesterday after putting it back on gave it some abuse and it was fine got to the last corner before my road and it came off at about 2k revs :@
just done it again and tightened it as much possible so hopefully thats done it ! The cars has only ever given me grief once so im lucky its a relatively pain free problem all though annoying
There should be jubilee clips with tiny little barbs on them just to give it a bit more grip

JCS clips or Miklior work spot on - had non come loose.
Very surprised it didn't cut out popping that hose, usually cuts out and is an absolute pig to drive without cutting out.
-
All it done was loud pop followed by jet engine type suction no power at all really 2100 revs was all it would give me not that I was stupid enough to still drive on boost anyway, it idled fine aswell
