hey im looking into getting the car remapped, can anyone recommend anyone in glasgow?
Is it a standard result or does it vary from company to company?
iv read this on another forum
------> i had my gtd 140 remaped about 6 months back ,before that i tried a tuning box on but there was no comparison to the remap the car has so much more power ,it was done by celtic tuning
standard figures are 2.0 TDi CR 138 bhp 236 lbft
tuned figures 195 bhp 328 lbft
they are a mobile service from cornwall to cumbria cost £313 all in

pretty sure thats an ecu out job ask 1 of the forum tuners they will know best :smiley:

Depends.......
Early 140 MK6's went by OBD. Up to 09 plates have a good chance. Its 59 plate on thats likely to be an ECU out job
All GTD's are ECU out jobs though :sad:

Is this process you talk of a big deal? Does it cost much and does it make a noticeable difference?

Big difference involved!!
Remove wipers, scuttle panel, anti-tamper bolts then the ECU. open up ECU, bench flash it and stick it back together
Other way is simply plug into the diagnostic port by your feet in the drivers foot well
On an 09 you have a good chance of the latter but nothing is guaranteed in this game :sad:
In terms of performance a remap is always worth the money :wink: the results are the same no matter what process is required but expect to pay more for the ECU way obviously

Thats about the going rate for an ECU out job :wink:
Have they quoted you a 2nd price should it be done via the OBD port??

I;d certainly ask the question :wink: I've done a handful of MK6's which have been 09 plates and they have been via the OBD port :afro:

its Celtic Tuning. They are based down south but they have branches nationwide so there is one in clydebank (close to glasgow). Ill ask them the question. Do you know anyone up my way?

I am assuming that your Golf is a MK6? If so, there is no OBD access at present. Your car will have a locked tricore processor and to date, we have never been able to get to one through the OBD port.

Hmm wonder what tools they have then as I have mapped a few 140's via OBD :smiley:
