Title: 16v brake servo
Post by: Redbaron on 12 August 2005, 12:29
Juts starting to get round to the front end of my mk1 restoration and have heard that a mk2 16v brake servo makes a lot of difference to the braking power of a mk1. I just so happen to have a 16v that im breaking and was wondering how difficult a job it is to swop the servo's over?

Anyone done this job before? any hint/tips? is it a straight forward swap?

Cheers

Alex

Hi,

This is a straight swap in terms of how it mounts to the box at the back. There is however a little modification required.

The fitting at the back of the 16v servo needs to be swapped with the one on the  Mk1 servo as it has a hole on it which is needed to hook the return spring into.
The spindle at the back of the 16v servo needs to be shortened so that it will be the same length as the mk1 servo.
Measure the distance from the back of the original to end of the shaft before you start to remove anything.
