As above, when i pulled on the drive and turned the engine off there was a definite knock coming from under the bonnet, it did it about 10 times and almost sounded like the fan was catching on something but i've checked that and it's fine, i started it back up again and i think i can hear it with the engine running although a nowhere near as loud, the car seems to run fine so i'm at a bit of a loss??
Any ideas?

Its not the start of the timing chain going / losing pressure is it

Exhaust bracket somewhere loose/broken??
I've heard it many times on Tdi's and have just assumed the above.

Feck it. You'll only have it for a few more week won't you?
-
Egr valve?

Lol, 10 weeks potentially but just curious if it was something I should worry about? EGR valve could be a candidate.

It knows you're getting rid of it

Bet you don't give it a second thought once you're cruising round in that sparkly new mk7

Is there some beeps off the throttle body after it?
Does the car stop as you turn it off or judder?
Do you have the aircon turned on?
You have checked the oil level

I've only ever heard the knocking from inside the car as it never does it when i'm trying to hear it, i have heard the beeps but no knocking if that makes sense??
The engine turns off as normal with no judder and the knocking comes after, like something is still spinning for a few seconds.
Air con is not on when the car is turned off.
Just been to check and the oil level is normal.
It's only done it twice, once after a 200 mile drive to Devon in May and the other night after driving 6 miles from the cinema (Man of Steel is rubbish btw!) otherwise it's completely normal?????? ???

Egr valve?
TSI does not have an EGR valve it's controlled with valve timing.

Not sure what it could be without hearing it to pin it down further.
I was thinking aircon condenser disengagement.
Can you hear the auxiliary water pump humming after turn off
If it was just as you stop or driving hard I would have said the exhaust bracked at the front of the engine.
Does it make a similar noise reversing backwards on a hill? As subframe boltsbare known to work loose
