Title: What do you guys think about a VW Sharon?

My family is getting bigger and will no longer fit into my golf in the near future (less than 6 months). I was thinking of buying an older VW sharan, but am not familiar with their faults etc....

I was wondering what I have to watch out for..:)

Hmmm...I have the feeling no one owns a Sharan to be able to comment on it..I was hoping someone would share their thoughts...It is a 2.0 petrol that I am interested in.:)

I owned one waaaaaaay back- even then the VR6 motor was great...when it worked.....

Bit ugly, if i needed a 7 seater vw again id go the Touran  :cool:

wel i have a chance to pick up a 1998 2.0 sharon automatic 100,000 miles for £120 but the automatic transmission hesitates when shifting, needs wiper motor and linkage arms and a side window(small one). Figure it may cost a few hundred to sort out as it may need new fuel lines, exhaust bracket and full service including cambelt tensioner etc. I am startung to hink that it is not worth it.:)

Even the VR6 Sharon is rubbish in these as they're detuned let alone an auto box one.

get in touch with him. it is located in bracknell. might have some parts someone needs parts. it's got a towbar...i don't know if it will fit other cars.:)

VR6 in the Galaxy and Sharon is the 174bhp as per normal, only the T4 was detuned.

The VR powered sharan is thirsty and suffers electrical issues just like the galaxy/alhambra... if i needed a reliable seven seater for not much cash i'd go straight for another zafira diesel although the petrols are ok too, make sure its got a good clutch and that the cambelts been done and you can't go wrong.

I know someone with a highline automatic version so you can imagine how slow that thing is.
