Title: Coilover Setup.....
Post by: knobby on 11 August 2005, 23:21
Ok

Got me coilovers fitted been running them for a couple of weeks now. Decided that the one of the front mounts needs replacing as it sits far higher than the other side.. So brought two new mounts, £25 quid each.. Ouch!... Gonna fit them soom but was wondering how i should set the ride height up, Should the right hand side be slightly heigher as it has the main weight of the engine that side and me sitting that side? or should they be level?

Cheers

It should be level despite where the weight is, had a simular problem withe the old driver on coilovers truned out to be the top mounts. If it isn't the top mounts you can always adjust it that what there for; but only measure from the coilovers, not the car to ground or simular

Good luck

Yeah... I'll give that a go..

Wondering now whether to get a Strut brace for the front and have it weilded in place. give the Struts more strength at the top, The coilovers are so hard its gotta be putting stress on the top mounts.

yeh the topmounts dont last too long on coilovers. When the steering feels heavy then you know they are gone. Im on my second set in a year

i wouldnt drill into the main chassis just for a strutbrace. if you welded it in then wont that be a b!tch to remove?

2 in a year aint bad... lol.. Mine were old when i fitted the coilovers.. but they looked ok.. i am guessing i was wrong.. Got new ones in the car to fit. cost me 51 quid from stealers.. Was disappointed at the price. I think the right hand side has started to break down as its pushing the rubber through the body work into the engine bay.

with regards to strut brace.. i think if i was to wield it, it would provide more strength. Why would i ever need to remove it?
