hey guys does anyone know if there is a stronger arb I could fit to front of my mk2 gti? I was thinking maybe a mk3 16v gti one with a bit of modding??? anyone know the diameter of mk3 one? cheers
-
Eibach do them - I have them fitted to mine...
-
yeah I wouldn't mind a set of them but im kinda on a budget at the moment so was just after a cheap easy upgrade. I know the mk3 one will fit the subframe mounts but has a different fitting at wishbone. was thinking maybe cut it down to fit or make up some brackets for it. or a bit of both. do the eibach make a big difference?
-
Yeah makes it nice and tight at the front and rear...
-
aso do you know if any mk3 ones will fit? or seat maybe? I was also thinking maybe I could hang a smaller bar at front of wishbones as there seems to be plenty room there. a bit overkill I know. but I just love to give myself problems.
-
I think a MK3 has different fittings on the ends. Sure I read it somewhere.
-
yeah it does. if I remember right the end links bolt to side of wishbone and bar is longer to compensate for the wider track. but if the bar was the same shape up to a point then the ends could be trimmed down to fit mk2 golf wishbones. surely over 23years and with them rusting aswell the arbs would weaken a bit. maybe a brand new standard one would make a big difference. prob cost a fortune though.

You can't use a mk3 one. You can get a set of Eibachs for under 200quid second hand if you keep an eye out .. if you're on that much of a budget then I really wouldn't bother.
A cheaper option (but harder to find) would be a G60 one as these are a couple of mm thicker, there was one on ebay for 50quid for ages but don't know if it has sold now.
-
im not on a budget as such. just like to be wise with my pennies with the way things are these days. them eibach anti roll bars are just way to overpriced. anyway back to the g60 anti roll bar. will you take 40 quid for it?
-
It wasn't mine mate, I just saw it on ebay a little while ago. Eibachs are worth the money, make a huge improvement :)
-
oh Its just that the anti roll bar for sale is in Huddersfield. same place as you. just thought you were being cunning lol. im not really looking for a huge improvement. just an upgrade on standard. going to try get hold of a 20mm bar and see how that improves it. it will keep it standard to (well to the untrained eye anyway)
-
hey does anyone know why some drop links are offset?
-
You need the straight droplinks.
-
Think the G60 ones are offset, standard mk2 are straight. If you've seen one in Huddersfield then it's the same one I saw, but no I wasn't being cunning
-
ah ok. guess that was just me trying to be cunning lol. might just leave the anti roll bar for now and change springs instead. it really is never ending once you start tinkering lol
-
£125 .. can't get much cheaper than that....
