Hi, I have a 2012 5 door , and one thing that's doing my head in is when I first get car out of garage and reverse off drive is the constant creaking of the rubber door seals!, after about 10 minutes it stops doing it, but for the beginning of a journey it drives you crazy, it does not matter if the weather is warm or cold it does it anyway. All 4 doors do it, I have applied some rubber silicone lubricant which cured it for about 3 days but now its doing it again. does anyone else have, this issue.
-
Are you sure it is the rubber seals? Only reason I ask is I have a similar noise that is coming from the panel of the seatbelts.
I will probably look at this at the weekend to try and fix it.
-
I have a very annoying vibration noise which seems to originate from passenger side A pillar area but I can't quite pin it down :undecided: It increases as you accelerate. Wonder if this could be the door seal? It's not a creaking noise though.

Try gummi pledge on the rubber it works a treat

This thread is so funny, i have the same issue, it a cross between a squeak and rubbing / vibrating noise.
I have got my girlfriend to try tell me where its coming from. First i thought it was the leather arm rest, which does make a squeaking sound when pressing it.
After trying a few things, i think it the piece of plastic that runs down the side below the glove box. If you open your door, where you can see the half moon shape piece of plastic where the fuse box is in European cars, below that is a long piece which goes the floor. I pressed that in hard all the way down, it went away......
But it has since come back, so im thinking some hot glue and something similar is in order, as it drive me mad....I hate rattles in the cabin.

Hi all,
It is definitely the rubber door seals, you can hear it coming from each door , worse when you first drive off and gets a bit easier as journey goes on but it never goes away completely, when reversing off my drive and steering is on lock you can actually hear each side of the car creak as you come off the drive at an angle as if the body is contorting
-
Have to agree with wag, mines creaks and groans when reversing out our drive, every vag ive had has done this, german build quality eh?
-
I was wondering if this happens on 3 door models aswell, or is it just something that happens to 5 door versions due to the strength of the shell as I think the 3 door model does not (twist) as much
-
My audi a3 3 door had same characteristics of creaks and groans m8.

I got some of this from the dealer works a treat

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE before you lube the seals, try applying some normal car wax to the door opening where the felt at the top of the doors meets the body, i had this issue and i put it down to the shampoo i was using but after waxing the openings it has stopped, it's not the rubbers it's the felt seals at the top.

This sounds exactly like the issue I'm having. I tried wedging various bits of felt/cloth between where door meets glove box but to no effect. I now just resort to turning music up so loud it drowns it out! But I know it's there!!!

I've already waxed my door openings, which helped with an issue where rain running off the roof was soaking into the felt on a rear door. Hasn't resolved the vibration noise sadly. Will try lube next.

Hi Guys
I have this problem too. As others have said it is really annoying and I have got to the point that I hate driving the car when I'm getting the rattles and creaks. They seem to come from either the central pillar trim, the door seals, the door cards or possibly even the passenger seat, sometimes all at once!
I would say the noises are there 75% of the time and its got to the point where when I am asked what i think of the car I tell people its a great car but VW build quality is no better than ford or any other manufacturer and they might as well save themselves a few pounds and buy a focus..... This may be a little controversial and certainly raises a few eyebrows but I have owned three VW's (2 golfs and a passat) all approx 8 years apart and each time I find myself saying I will never buy another. I really want to tell people the car is fantastic but have to say after 3 months and nearly 6000 miles of ownership the only way I can describe the car is I either love it or hate it depending on the extent of the 'noises' it produces each day.
I need a solution before I go insane!!!!!

Lool, so glad im not the only fussy one, my GF says she cant hear it and if she can it doesnt bother her.....I cant stand the sh1t.
I think i have solved the main one i was having. (described in an early post by me).
Also guys, do you get a lot of rear end rattle, for example ill hit a speed bump or pot whole and it sound like i have tools in the back, it just doesnt feel rigid and sturdy like the front end.....anyone else have that
Im thinking of getting ARB / sway bar for the rear to stiffen things up.

I too have the annoying rattle/squeak as booth11 mentioned by the passenger side A pillar, thought at first may have been the dashboard rubbing against the screen, which was a problem I had once with a new seat leon,. but then thought it may be the dash board rubbing against the door card by the air vent. So I placed a cloth over the side of dash and closed the door onto cloth and this cured it  removed cloth and yes the noise returned  , so that noise still remains but at least I know what it is now, only issue now is how to cure it

Tried the same but didn't work for me, think it needs more pressure on it, though I think this is the source of the noise  search for a cure continues........

wear ear muffs lol. or make the squeaks in to a beat that you can tap your fingers to with the power of your mind.
-
Spent all day yesterday washing and cleaning car, spotless now, to try and cure the creaking door seals I have covered the door seals with silicone rubber lubricant, and also waxed the inside door frame where felt seals sit, going out today to give it a try and see if this has cured the problem, fingers crossed it has  if not then its back to the drawing board!
-
Everytime my cars serviced i have asked them to do the seals as the stuff they use is stupid priced.
It works for a few months and I really like the car again then it starts again a few months later. Ive tried a few different products but the krytox stuff they use is far superior but something stupid like £40 a 30ml bottle...
Ive had this door rubber issue with every VW, SEAT ive bought since 1996 it was always worse on 3 door models as the door has more flex on its hinges as its much longer.
-
There's a simple solution to this.......
Upgrade to a 3 door car

I know this was a joke but how would that help? People with 3 door cars have complained about it too.
-
Oh my mistake, thought it was only a problem with the back doors.

This was the first thing I noticed when going from a 5 series estate to a GTi 5 door. That and road noise. It's amazing how quite the 5 was compared to the GTi. Especially from the rear wheels. I keep clicking the window switches thinking I've left one down a bit.....but nope.

Update on creaky door seals, since lubricating the rubber door seals and waxing the door frames where the felt seals fit, all creaking has gone! sorry cannot define which treatment cleared the issue as I did both at the same time. Still have creaking by A post/ door card though, this is still an issue and will have to look at a way to a quick cure.

That's good news then
'A' pillar noise seems harder to diagnose. Let us know if you find a cure for it. I'll do same if I manage to resolve it.

i though A-Pillar is the easy one, its long piece below the glove box that really needs bending / pushing back into place and the lube mid to lower door seal ....Gone !!!!

Ta, I'll give that a go this weekend then.

A pillar noise can be the clip for the sunvisor buzzing. The metal bit in it bends and needs bending back.
I thought it was the a pillar or behind the dash at first.
I know the how to remove it was posted ages ago.
Mines started doing it ago as ive used the sun visor alot of late.
