Title: Mk4 agu not starting
Post by: luke on 26 June 2013, 23:49
Car started when I finished work but cut out a few seconds after, tried bump starting it but no avail, then tried with battery booster which didn't start first time but after a minute did, ran fine and changed the battery then tonight, driving home it started spluttering and juddering, then cut out again, any ideas?

Have you scanned it? May be your ingnition amp which is on the air box

Haven't yet, was thinking of buying one this weekend too, I first thought it could be maf related as it ran rough before and the maf was loose, it has an aftermarket cone filter so checked all surrounding plugs

Unplug the maf then see how it is ...not heard of maf stopping it starting tho.. may be the reason it runs ruff

Can't hear the fuel pump priming, will be going to the local vw breakers later to pick up a cupra r fuel pump and going to see if they have any crank sensors in stock, fit them both and see if problem persists

Sorry thought I put that down, will be replacing that also, if the relay fixes it then I'll keep the parts for spares

Bits arrived today, sent the wrong crank sensor after giving engine code , also ran it upto temperature and ran fine, been to put petrol in and the weekly shop and runs fine, possible that could be crap in the fuel tank as I was on the petrol light when it happened
