Title: salvage yards.
Post by: sharki786 on 26 June 2013, 08:08
Ok as some may have seen my post in the correct place now (wanted) lol. Im after a damaged car for my project. Now theres copart ebay and gumtree. Only problem with copart is that the bids go realy high (spoke to a mate who has biught a van and a few cars from there) he says the europeans make the bids very high so they get the car. Now i want to know where else could i look for a golf mk4 1.8t??

What you doing, engine going in the mk3 and selling off the rest of the mk4 to pay towards the conversion?

Find a tatty running Golf4, or one that's been smacked up the backside.

Buy the whole car, remove what you want, weigh the shell in.

Don't p*ss about in scrapyards for that sort of thing, unless you have a good relationship with them already.

Sorry for late reply peeps.

I need a full car mate.

Im buying a doner (not kebab lol) car to take engine out put it into mine and strip the car to pay towards the convo.

Only doing this as on friday me and my mate went to see a mk2 with agu k03s remapped by r-tech producing 240 and it was rapid.

And now i have 500 to buy a damaged car. Take engine out loom and what not and put into my anni (need more power) i will be selling bits of the engine and the full ss zorst. Decat from rj performance and backbox from power flow. But will advertise that when i got everything ready.

I dont know of any scrappies that WONT rip my ar5ehole apart. Been looking on copart (thats the only one i know of)
If people come across a mk4 with agu rear end damage or light front end damage please let me know by pm.
I am keeping an eye out but no luck yet. Seen 1 on copart but its miles away (doncaster)
I dont want a mk4 with bits missing of it.
Thing is i dont know were else to look for a mk4 agu. Been on ebay and gum tree.

Money is all ready. Just need the car now lols

Have you tried Stevens of Derby for just an engine?
Or I think its Davies in Essex?

This - you're going to need to travel to get a bargain to suit your needs.

I've driven all over the UK to pick up random stuff for cars and actual cars..... even to France on one occasion to pick up a cheap Transporter.

Buy one that drives, buy a return train ticket as close as you can get to it, go see it, if it's good, get insurance day cover on it and drive it home, if it's bad, get back on the train and use the other half of it.

If this is your first time pulling this sort of nonsense - get one that can be driven back, unless you have a licence to tow, a big enough tow car with a towbar and access to rent/borrow/beg a trailer.

Commercial recovery outfits charge commercial money to move expensive cars around.
