Title: Electric sound after high revs - what is it?
Post by: RocketRossUK on 25 June 2013, 22:49
Had the stereo switched off for a 10 mile journey today - I always usually have music on and usually quite loud.

But today i had nothing but the sound of the engine. When accelerating hard and then lifting off, i kept hearing what can only be describbed as an electric motor sound / woosh.

It wasnt turbo noise / dumping air, more of what i can describe as a magnetic electric sound.....What is that?

I did notice it before....just never really think owt of it.....Its not a part on its way out is it?...or is it just the TSI engine?

I have the same thing, I always though it was the intake.

Does it sort of beep at certain rev ranges when accelerating hard?

Mine makes this noise, too. No idea what it is but in the four years I've had the car it hasn't manifested into a problem - wouldn't worry about it too much.
