Just wondered who else has one due for delivery or indeed already built or am I one of the the first ones in the UK to get my hands on the Mk7 GTD?
-
My dad's is either in the UK now, or will be tomorrow (depending on which ship it caught to the port of Tyne - should be on the road by the end of the week.
-
Am I right yours was ready Thursday last week as well? I hope mines on the same ship but not heard anything from the dealer yet. I want to know if it's got the sound actuator is fitted as I can't find out anything concrete yet. I don't even know of any UK demonstators anywhere either.

Will you be really disappointed if it hasn't got it? I don't think i would.

Paul: Yes last Thurs. I think yours is more likely to be on a Sheerness bound ship than port of Tyne, unless it stopped off in both ports. If they put the sound actuator on my 170TDI Scirocco and the MK6 GTD, i'm sure it will be on the MK7 GTD too.
My TDI sounds better internally than the natural sound of the 2.0TSI 210PS, but of course it is completely artificial.
No GTD demos in any of the Tyne and Wear dealerships yet, and they were amongst the first to get GTI demos in.

I would, it sounds great!

I think I would be but don't think it would be worth waiting for!!!
-
Looking forward to you guys getting these and having some first hand reviews :) :)

Mine is in transit, not sure if it is on the ship yet, but supposed to get it late July/ early august :-)

If it's in transit I think you'll be easily getting it within 2 weeks.
-
It's a 3 horse race at the moment and I'm whipping like there's no tomorrow!
-
I will be watching the "city of Amsterdam" ship come in today and i'll ask my next-door neighbour to keep an eye out for my dad's car - he's a gaffer at Tyne dock - he sees a lot of Nissans going out and a bit of everything coming in.
-
If he sees a black one with big wheels then it's mine!!
-
Has anyone got delivery of a GTI yet?

That would be great, my dealer asked me to send my retention document this week, so I am hoping that means it is close to arriving

No tracker update for my dad's yet, but not really suprising - if it was on last night's "City of Amsterdam" arrival at Tyne dock then I don't suppose there'd be any tracking update until the administrators of the tracker come into work this morning (if they even do an update on it today). Chances are it could be at the dealership before the tracker updates to "arrived in the UK".
As always, ringing up VW UK or waiting for your dealer to ring you is probably the way to go.
-
Hoping that my dad's GTD will be on the "City of Rome" ship loading up in Emden now, bound for port of Tyne to arrive tomorrow afternoon.
As of yesterday VW UK could confirm it was still sat dockside, thumbing a lift, but couldn't say when it would be getting shipped. Useless! The ships serving Emden to port of Tyne seem to be on an 11ish day cycle, so after "City of Rome" there'll be a week or so wait until the next ship is doing the rounds between Emden and port of Tyne.
-
Will they confirm it if makes the ship?

I will ty them tomorrow morning - they'll have had a whole 24 hours if it did get on. VW tracking/planning is useless. Surely they have a plan for what ship it will get on, hope the y don't randomly pick it for a ship that comes in.
-
Agree they are useless!!! Commercially You would have thought that they would try and get an initial amount of vehicles into countries as soon as possible to help boost sales by the new owners advertising them!!! I'm away until the end of next week so pressures off for me but based on perfomance I don't think It will be at least another 2 weeks before I get my hands on it......still sooner than most!!!

Monkey
I'd lower your expectations a little if I were you, cars often sit in Emden for a week or two and then another week on this side, even if the dealer is just down the road.
Logistics.

the dealer is going to port of Tyne to pick mh's dad's car up.

You've been speaking to Mick today! Yes, the car is confirmed aboard the "City of Rome" and will arrive at port of Tyne tomorrow afternoon. The dealer is also making special arrangement to have the car picked up from the docks to hurry things along. My dad has been told to expect Tuesday. If it is Tuesday rather than Monday then i'll not even get a go in it.
My dad is up from Southampton (he lives down there now) for his brothers 50th party this weekend (should be an epic piss-up) and had been planning on goiing back no later than Tues. If he doen't get it Monday then he'll literally pick it up and drive straight down home to Southampton with it, and i'll have to wait for Facebook pics.  I will try to head down to the dealership for a look on Monday if it's still getting PDI/registration and take a few pics.

spoke to Mick yesterday just to nosey on your dad's car. he's going to give me a ring when it comes in so I can see one in the flesh. maybe see you down at Pulman?

Be interesting to see how quick the tracker changes.....and if you can get the dealer to confirm if the sound actuator is fitted.... (along with some pics, don't think we've seen any of the UK spec as yet)
-
I think i'll be taking a look at it sometime on Sunday (if they transport it this evening or Saturday) - hopefully they'll have all the shipping protection materials off it by then for a few decent pictures.
Tracker won't be changing until at least 4pm (ETA for the ship it's coming in on).
-
Just had an update from the dealer.
He doesn't think he can get the car to the dealership until Tuesday morning. The ship is due in at 4pm, and the salesman is trying to talk to the right people at dockside (customs and clearance) to get it cleared quickly. VW then make it wait at the clearance side for around 24 hours before they'll allow it to leave the dock (presumably updating their systems to confirm arrival and make sure all the release sign offs from the port authority are complete).
These things pretty much don't happen over a weekend when all the admin support for VW UK are off, so they'll have to happen Monday and the car has been booked by the dealership's preferred car transport company as first pick-up on Tuesday morning.
My dad is sorting the paperwork out over the weekend to smooth out the collection.
My dad is supposed to be back in work down Southampton on Weds, so I suspect he'll shoot straight off down to the dealers once PDI is finished and drive directly to Southampton. I'll not get a chance to see it in the flesh if it happens that way. Hoping it's a late pick-up on Tues and he decides not to drive down until Weds morning.

Err...........chaps, my car has just gone to build week confirmed on the VW tracking website, but it doesn't actually tell me what the week number is ? Should it be there somewhere or do I need to contact the dealer ?
I assume this doesn't mean it's imminently about to be built and could still be many weeks off ?
Edit...just called the dealer - Build Week 33 Confirmed (suppose it's better than it was).

Should be built 4 weeks from now, however with the factory shutdown it might be build week 33. We are currently in bw26. The website doesn't give you the BW date
