Title: Cruse control intermittent

Hi all I have tried looking but can't find anything about it.
I have just bought a 1998 MK4 1.8t GTI. It has cruse control but works when it wants to but when it does work it jumps out of cruse control, can anyone help me, I'm happy I got it and wanna use it, helpful tips please. Thanks guys

do you press the brake at all?... some cruise control turns itself off when the brake is touched or the accelerator.
not a fan of cruise control myself, i like to be controlling the car!

Cruise should deactivate when the clutch or brake pedal is pressed

You might have a fault on either of those

Pressing the accelerator doesnt disable it. It should resume / return to the set speed once released

If brake / clutch pedal is pressed then you need to press the resume button  :nerd:

hi yea I understand all that, but it randomly cuts out without me pressing anything and now even when I press the button it doesn't work! lol bloody annoying.

faulty brake or clutch switch possibly.
