In the near future, my ABF from my Gti will be going into my 1.9d sdi Golf Variant to make way for bigger engine plans! Now, I want to keep the o2a box for the Gti, and to make the ABF swap nice and easy, I want to use a non hydro clutch gearbox. That way I won't have to swap out the peddle box etc :)
My question is, what gearbox can I use instead? I will be staying 4x100 and running VR6 calipers with G60 discs and a rear disc conversion using Ibiza Cupra parts.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I wouldn't advise using a non hydro gearbox on an ABF. Your Variant will have provisions on the pedal box for the hydro stuff anyway so source yourself another 02A. If, for some reason, cable is the only way, then use an 02A box with the Ibiza cable to hydro bits, can still get em new from VW, they look a bit ugly but do the job

Thanks for the reply Ben. As usual you make a very valid point! I forgot that the later models used a peddle box capable of accepting the hydro set up. To be honest, I prefer the stiffer feel of the non hydro gear change, but if it means buying more Parts then its something I'll live with :) as far as ratios go, I have heard the mk3 tdi box is a good one? I already have a o2j shifter tower for the Gti so if I bought another box I could use with the o2a shifter that would be good :)
