Title: mk4 2000 W reg 1.8L what mileage cambelt change?
Post by: jnielow on 19 June 2013, 11:29
Hi, going to have a look at the above with only 62,000 miles on clock, have read various different mileages the belt needs changing. Can any confirm when for this model please, also is it wise to water pump etc?

Many Thanks

Jason

Think it's due a change now if it hasn't already been done so factor that into the price

Think its every 60,000 or 4 years (whichever is soonest) and yes it makes sense to do the water pump at the same time

If you have no record of it being replaced then it needs replacing asap.

It is due every 4yrs no matter how many miles it has covered.

Currently in the middle of changing the cambelt for my own golf gti 1.8t wreg 150bhp.

Book says every 60,000 miles or 4 years! MY BELT WAS LAST CHANGED 7 YEAR AGO at 72k - now on 110k!

Yes get the waterpump changed too as they apprently suck on golfs and means you dont need to pay lots for labour when it does go! thanks
