Title: Exhaust help needed.
Post by: ju571n on 17 June 2013, 16:03
Hoping one of you helpful chaps will be able point me in the right direction.

I am running 2.0 8v on r1 carbs making around 150hp. its got a stage one head and revs to 8500k.

So the exhaust I have atm is a SS 4 branch, SS ebay decat, SS pipe mid section and SS S-pipe with small silencer in it, SS Back box of ebay aswell(came on the car).

Now I'm getting to much pressure in the system, spoke to a bloke who knows his stuff, who said the bore is big enough 2" but I should get rid of the silencer in the s-pipe and run a better quality backbox. I was going to get a Jetex or Milltek backbox but after looking into it they are much bigger bore then the rest of my system.

So do I just buy a Jetex/Milltek backbox and take it a classic car exhaust place near me and get them to make it fit, straight through. Or do i buy a full Jetex system and fit it myself... Jetex bore being 63mm.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers Justin.

You need 2.5" mate.
Get a system for 16 and vr6. Not a 8v gti.

so get a jetex cat back system and fit yourself

Decat pipe will be 2.5"
