Use the earth and possitive wire from the side lights then they will come on when you switch on the sidelights.  I did similiar thing with lower bumper grill fog lights

Firsty but drl look sh1t lol but if you like them where are they  going to go?

Best thing to do is feed wires through to each sidelight. So left drl two wires going to left sidelight ..then take out the sidelight and disconect the wires going to it then connect wires from drl up  .. should be two wires running to sidelight.. if not use one the sidelight and you will need the brown earth wire.. (not 100% on colors as been 2 years since i done this lol) ...some insulation tape.. and conect sidelights back up.. the propa way is to wire them to a switch and relay but iv done above way for about year on lower bumper fogs and will do it again on my 4mo

Where are you planning on placing the leds? Inside the headlights themselves?

I've got to say that I agree, they scream chav to me :undecided:

However if that is what you want to do then go for it, just splice into the side light wiring.

Cheers Dom I'm only going to use them for now untill I buy new headlights with them fitted if I don't like them once fitted ill just take them out

What's the easiest way to get access to the sidelight wiring or failing that how would they get wired to come on when the ignition is switched on ?

Take the headlights out, follow the wires back from the side light until you find a length of wire long enough to cut and strip them fit a connector block. Run an extra wire from each connector block down to the LED's, remember that LED's only work one way so make sure that you get the +ve and -ve wires the right way round.

Cheers for that do you know what colour wires they are ? Sorry to seem dim but not what you would call clued up on this kinda thing ?

Or how do they wire up to the ignition

Pretty sure brown is -ve.

Don't mess around with ignition wiring, it's much easier to do it closer to where the lights are going.

to wire it so it comes on when the ignition comes on you would need to put in some sort of relay and use a switch signal from the ignition, bit of a chew on, if i were you id just wire them into the side lights, then when you realise they look chavy and cheep you can take them out easily and its only cost you the price of the lights :D

yeah scotch connectors are fine.

personally id proberbly just use crimps cause there easier to find.

take out lights, trace the +ve and -ve wires back a few inches, cut, crimp in another wire then connect up to the drl's. like as shown below

___________________ new wire to DRL +ve
+ve From car -----------------Crimp-------------------------------existing wire to side light+ve

___________________ new wire to DRL -ve
-ve from car -----------------Crimp-------------------------------existing wire to side light -ve

then the same for the other side

obviously both the new wire and existing wire are going into the crimp but you get the idea. not ideal having 3 wires in a crimp, but possible, ive done it before, or if you can get them there are three-way crimps, but there harder to find in shops and id imagine more costly.

if you want to go really all out then get some heat shrink too, and put on the wire before you crimp then once you have crimped it and tested, move the heat shrink up over the crimp and run a soldering iron over to give a water tight seal

Just wire them to sidelights. Its not hard. You dont need take headlights out. I wired up fogs from bumper with everything still on the car.

Just thought it would be easier to run the wires up with it out but I know what you mean. I know what I'm doing now had some top notch advice from gti James going to get the splice connectors tomorrow and give it a go
