Title: Starting my mk3 issues

Basically I own a mk3 petrol auto
New start motor 6 months old
Problem I have is sometimes car will not start, I turn key get lights on dash and that's it.
Sometimes it will start first time other times 2,3,4 even 10 attempts
Any advice would be great cheers

That will be Ignition switch, 5er on ebay

Theres a great guide for this job cant remember where I saw it  ,I used it when I did mine  will see if I can find it

Just to confirm it is the ignition switch, when you try to crank the engine and it doesn't work then keep the key in the cranking pos and put a bit of pressure on the key moving it up down left and right,it should crank,i relalise you've got auto box ,now I know on some autos the engine wont crank unless the gear is in park so that may be another switch to look at  :smiley:

does it allow you to turn the key or doesit lock up on occassion
