Title: 1.8 non turbo cutting out
Post by: craig c on 15 June 2013, 20:17
hi all i'm looking for some advice  my 1.8 non turbo keeps cutting out but if you wait about 10mins it will re-start, no warning lights appear . also temp gauge is a bit erratic some days it will only get halfway to 90 other days it just doesn't  move, I have owned it for 10 years now and its  getting a bit long in the tooth.

any advice greatly appreciated

i would say its the coolant temp sensor, others might say the crank sensor.
first thing to do is get it scanned for fault codes as that`ll give you a fair idea..
for what its worth, you might aswell replace the coolant temp sensor anyway if you say its eratic but i think that its the cause due to the symptoms of it starting once it cools down.

Remove Coolant Temp Sensor from car.
Dispose of car.
Replace car with 18T.
Insert Sensor back into car.
I garantee you will see a significant improvement :lipsrsealed:
