Hi, I have a similar problem on my 2002 gti with rust on the front wheel arch. Took it to VW and they said that it was a design fault with the car and they wouldn't be doing anything about it. Have a few friends that are lawyers who are going to have a look into it. The quote from the garage was £980 to repair it which they can shove up their ar$e. Have a guy up north who will replace and spray it for £250. Going to see if its worth taking the legal route first. Not my fault there was a design issue with the soundproofing rubbing on the wing.

I doubt you'll get anywhere with it to be honest, if you look in the mk5 section there are stories of much newer cars developing rust and the dealer washing their hands of it.
They'll put it down to poorly repaired damage etc.

Oooo sounds a big con then really why put a 12 year guarantee if they cant onner it.
If it is a design fault then they should really be having the car back and putting it right,i will phone my local vw dealer tomorrow and see what they say to me.

Let me know how you get on. If you need I know a guy up aberdeen way who does good work for a good price, not sure where your based. If VW don't repair it then thats who I'll be sending it to.
-
Yeah will do mate.
Way way to far for me that to travel sounds alot of money for just one wing ?
-
Yeah a complete rip, that included a little work at the base of the door that had started to corrode as well
-
O right sounds ok then that so will let you know tomorrow when i phone vw.

This plus is will need FSH as they do a bodywork inspection whilst doing the service.
