Title: oxygen sensor?
Post by: nhop10 on 12 June 2013, 18:50
done a quick search but nothing. i had my car hooked up to vagcom today and came up with a few fault codes. one for an oxygen sensor? anyone know what this is and could it be causing my dodgey idling on start up?

cheers

which engine have you got, i.e. engine code (and don't come back saying a 2.0 8v)?

Not the most likely reason for an uneven idle. Search for threads on this.

Lambda sensor will make the car hunt (bounching revs) been there

Not sure. You could always look on eurocarparts???

Have checked and compared pt numbers and they do use the same sensor .
Lambda is constantly changing the mixture of air/fuel and of not reading correctly / working will give you a rough idle.  But more than likely its a dirty inlet / throttle as when a lambda sensor fails it will run a factory safe mode to the lambda to prevent over fueling and burning the cat out

wicked. but it came up as a fault code when plugged in so i imagine its still worth changing. i was planning on cleanign the throttle body anyways to see if that helps

Oh yea don't get me wrong if there is a fault code for it then its had it for sure . but what i was getting at is they run a safe mode when they fail and run a certian mix to prevent damage to the cat so you may find the idle issue is unrelated or may be related with a mk3 nothing is certian and they certianly love new parts espicaly coil packs .

think i just saw your car parked up in the greys road car park earlier about 10.30 ? looks nice if it was yours ! ,
