Title: Tough seatbelt stains

Hi,

Bought some new seatbelts recently but they're covered in black blotches, have no idea what it is, have tried soaking in detergent, vanish oxi action and even steam cleaning and nothing seems to have made much of a dent. Any suggestions welcomed!

As you can see they're pretty obvious, and very widespread across all the belts :/

Interesting, if it were mold it would be fairly easy to remove but that's strange you haven't seen any improvement from your efforts, I would try apc but be carefull with belts as you are not supposed to clean them with chemicals/lots of moisture etc as it can effect the fabric,weave etc. use a George if you have one to suck the moisture out during and after cleaning then leave them fully pulled out till they are bone dry again.
If you can't get that out I would say bite the bullet and get some new ones or put up with the spots.

LOL that might be the last ditch option if he can't get the spots out using apc.

What concentration do you suggest the APC be? Could I put it through the steamer to increase its power?
Wish I had a george but not been able to justify it.

If I can't get them out I'll either sell them on or throw them away, CBA to keep reapplying felt tip ink lol.

Lol I wasn't being serious regarding the sharpie and Scarr wasn't either ;) ........I think!!

Right back to the belts, go for a weakish dilution 1:10/1:20 first because your not using and extraction machine the product is going to be left in the belt fibres which isn't ideal I'm afraid so don't over soak the belts with it, the other downside to not using a machine is those markes could just get larger when you spray the cleaner onto them so will still be there but fainter and larger.
See how you go and get back to us with an update.
