Title: MFA woes...
Post by: filthy on 09 August 2005, 22:15
Hey everybody, I've just entered the world of Mk3 ownership, after having mk2s for a few years- bought a '95 8 valve GTI with a few (!) problems-  but it was cheap, it drives real nice and its nothing I can't sort ( famous last words...)
Anyway, the MFA isn't working at all - tried disconnecting the battery (always worked on the mk 2s), but had no joy. I've got some mk2 clocks in my shed with a good mfa unit- are they the same on both models, and if not, has anyone got one for cheaps? also, how does it come out of the mk3 dash, cheers...

I know this post was a good while ago, but did you ever manage to sort the problem out? I've got the exact same problem with my MFA, on the same car too (95 GTI 8v).

I called a dealership the other day and they said I would probably have to replace the entire  instrument panel, pay £30 to diagnose the problem and then pay for the new panel and installation, including coding it to the car. Sounds a bit expensive to warrant getting it done to me
