Guessing this is a common problem:

Worried that I might see rust coming down there as a result of water being able to slip under the rubber... What would the ideal fix be?
Cheers.

Get some clips and push it in place
-
You have had a screen done at some point and the bloke has bent the rubbers up rather than remove the whole thing, most likely to save on clips.
The bend on the front is a give away.
Get a big bag of clips of the net and do the lot, try and get the kink out as well
The little posts the clips clip onto tend to rust quickly and creep up onto the roof, can be a proper rust trap under the rubbers good luck

wtf.... the guy who sold me the car said it was the heat over the years.. what an ass.
Where can I get these clips?
Cheers.

Where can I get these clips?
dealer only... don't be attempted to buy used as they become brittle when old (oh and when removing them!)
-
What about these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-mk3-MK-3-GOLF-ROOF-TRIM-STRIP-MOULDING-CLIPS-FASTENERS-/190747491499?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c696fbcab

And how do I actually change the clips? Do I need to get all the rubber off? Think I might have broken another clip trying to bend the rubber to get a look...
-
Them are the clips in the above eBay link mate
-
Cool. thanks mate. And do I just rip the rubber off?
-
There doesn't seem to be any clips just by the place where it's not sealing... how many clips per side?
-
I ain't got a clue how many you'll be needing.
