Nice 1 that's cleared things up for me. So is there anything I should look out for in buying a mk5 gti as I'm looking at spending about £7000 on 1 but I've never spent more than £1000 on a motor so the thought of buying a sh!tter is worrying me abit lol

7k should get you a decent mk5 now but make sure you test a few an service history is a must

7k and it should be mint. Full VWSH with low mileage and good extras.
As a point I sold my 60,000 mk5 gti poverty spec but 2 owners full VWSH for £6,000 last year. plenty out there and extras include things like the
Monza 2 18" wheels (most will need a refurb)
Full leather heated
RNS 500 sat nav and touchscreen headunit
Multi Function steering wheel
