Right guys ive just purchased a second hand ko3s and need some advise,it came today and tbh I think its past its best im no turbo expert btw ,it was advertised as 80 odd k, in good working order,no play in the shaft ,no smoke bla bla, well opened the box and after a quick look over it these are the things are what im not happy about, shaft has enough play for the turbine to touch the housing,is this normal without oil pressure? Its got a bit of oil around between the hot and cold sides
Has two cracks in the hot side which I could probably live with as I believe many out are the same but was not mentioned, some oil in the cold side pipe (engine breathing?)
Its been badly packaged and the actuator bracket is bent plus the vacuum spout is sqaushed ,its the play in the shaft that im worried about ,i wouldn't sell it like this
Was hoping to get this straight on but I don't think it would last long, ive pmd the seller to see what he says
What would you do ,rebuild it? send it back?
-
Send it back, there are enough KO3s' around to pick up a decent one
-
The oil sounds like it is in need if refurbishment too. Will be passing oil through its seals
Buy my old K04 instead, much better than a poxy ko3s
-
He's saying there was no play and has video evidence  ,wont take it back, the courier has worn the bearing out then, thats that mystery solved

Paypal will be dealing with it now, going to go get it inspected for an official report ,I aint havin it,ive payed good money for a piece of crap that I cant use and the report will prove it ,its just annoying that the seller still says there was nothing wrong with it when he had it, ffs I only got it yesterday! Plus the packaging was an absolute joke!a massive box with a couple bits of paper floating about so really its got damaged because the seller cba to do it proper, just cant get the staff these days
-
Paypal have accepted the report on the turbo and its on its way back to him if he likes it or not,he should never have sold it as in good working order as it had multiple faults and is only fit for a rebuild.
Shaft play side to side top to bottom out of tolerance range, marks to the housing where impeller has contacted
Thrust bearing worn some play up and down
Two bolts cold side missing
Leaking oil seal
Two cracks hot side
Actuator bracket bent (down to terrible packaging)
Vacuum spout squashed
Im done with the classifieds now unless its local and I can check the goods out, peaved off with buying sh!te!

People are dicks these days. I bought a kart engine last year that was meant to be good. Looked fine in pics too. But the chain had come off/snapped and battered the crank case. Also means over revved engine prob to 25000rpm. That will knock crank out or damage it. (2 piece crank) but all done with paypal and I got my money back.
Always use paypal!

I hear you tweed! I used to do gift but once bitten not that long ago and since then vow to allways pay it safe.
Still not got my money back yet though,i think he's dodging paypals requests.
