Title: ideal width for banded steels f+r
Post by: robjackson on 04 June 2013, 17:46
Has anyone got an experienced opinion on what kind of sizes might be best for my 15" G60's?
So far theyr built up with 165/45 f+ 195/55 r, and painted gleaming white.

I think standard width and tucked to death might not suit the low wide red mk3 wagon, (black roof+ black vento front end)

Maybe bandeds are the way to go

Without much arch-work, would 7.5 with a slim/stretched tyre, and maybe an 8 or 8.5 out back with a little deeper but stretched sidewall work out?

Never had widened steelies b4, but always loved the hard stance look.

Any adeas? . . .

Messure the gap from rim to arch.

Make your own decisions

Anyone else got any experience on this?

If it was me I would go for alloys, banded steels need to very high quality plus are very heavy

Naah mate.
I'm actualy planning banded steels, with my china kris, who's the best in the business, and was after sizing experience.

Am not intrested in alloys, and its a diesel estate so ligtness isn't really in te equation thanks

So anyway;

Has anyone on here got any actual input for me re-banded steel fitment?

I do actually know what I'm on about after having 20yrs experience with modified fords+ vws
But I'm just after an extra bit of input from likeminded dubbers,

Cheers

8 & 8.5".

Boom!

Just test fit the tyres before painting them, or you'll end up like my mate with an inner barrel full of exhaust putty and aluminium tape to keep it sealed!

What are you standard wheel specs?

I cant see how adding 2/3 inches will fit without major arch work.

Thought you said you dont want to do that?
