Everyone likes something for free, right?
Here's some photo editing software that costs nothing. It looks kinda like Lightroom or ACR. It'll work with RAW, tiff, png or jpg files. And give you a fair few editing options and it has a collage mode too.
It's available for Mac, Windows (inc 8), iOS and Android.

(I haven't tried it myself yet, but thought it might interest some)

There are plenty of alternatives to Adobe software. Which is just as well seeing as they are going to make people commit to the "creative cloud" software licensing model.
There's a big list here, some of them free.

I just keep getting issues where some raw images will import and some won't, it seems totally random.

I've never had problems importing RAW files into LR.
Are you importing straight from the memory card or copying to hard drive, then importing?
Are the same problematic RAW files importing ok into other software then?
If they work fine in other software, then it must be your installation of LR.
