Its been sold to the same people that own PVW, they'll either kill it off, to increase the sales of PVW, or, improve it to compliment PVW. In my opinion there is room for a less "Scene" magazine/Carl Taylor show. but it has to up its quality of materials used, and more accurate and better written content

THAT ^

Stopped buying the mags a long time ago. Shows and mags have lost the vw culture.

THAT ^

Stonor Park was the best show that I've been to in a long time.  No little w@nkers revving their engines whilst sporting the skinny jeans and a Wrong Direction hairdo!

Haven't bought PVW for at least 18mths, and my 10yr+ collection is now in the sh1tter in work!

The reasons mentioned here are exactly why I went to another manufacturer for a bit.

Local VWs to me are all modified in exactly the same way and are driven by a lad that hasnt even bothered to bend the peak on his cap!

Then again, I went completely the other way and bought MG Rovers where they all wore flatcaps!

VW culture.. Out of interest, whats peoples opinions of this then ?

As in what is the VW Culture?

Because i find that the forums are the worst for the loss of this....

I've always thought VW culture to be a bit more free'n'easy than other marque appreciation.. a bit more bohemian..this forum is a lot less cliquey and judgemental than others, most people on here seem to have a sense of humour...if i'm honest i've always thought vw folks to be cooler than all the others...less geeky......i've yet to meet a veedub owner in person who wasn't pretty friendly and easy going.... whereas vauxhall owners all seem to be a bit too aggressive to me.

"VW culture" is what this forums losing.

E38 you've got "air this air that" and not so much technical info.

This forum less of a budget it seems, used to be a really friendly and helpful place but it's getting run down but the same old boring arse licking idiots who just seem to want to put people down time and time again.

Was plenty of help, I've given jump starts, free parts, been up the road where I used to live to help time up a Golf and replace a couple of bits with one I had just scrapped.

Asked for nothing in return except possibly a bit of help moving something which he happily obliged! That's what it used to be like IMO.

Now you've got too much putting people down. You dare not post any ideas, plans or anything as it just gets slated. UNLESS you are one of the ones in the circle licking circle, in which case post whatever dodgy sh!te (speeding, dodgy plates, interesting history on number plates etc) and everyone bum licks. They tend to do jack all for you either.

VW Culture and VW Scene are two different entities in my eyes.

The culture is all about having a laugh, and enjoying the car you own with like minded friends.

The scene seems to be so-called 'players' trying to get one over each other by either doing some crazy styling, buying 'rare' wheels with mad offsets, or doing just about anything to stand out from the crowd.

Forums are bad, but I find this one, 80% of the time, is free of the attention seekers and hoop snoggers.  We have our own scene whore in Blue, but he is the type to keep his enemies close too...

Bellend, who are these arse licking idiots you talk of?

And that's one of the reasons I hardly post on here no more.

E38 is getting better for home builds now. Less cheque book. People actually slate stuff less! Do admittedly bum shiney wheels more though.

Watch out for the scene tax though, as that has had an adverse reaction on the classified turnaround.

They loved my mk3 on ED38 and its not scene, was pretty surprised with the feedback.

Almost standard looking on the outside apart from the height and Porsche rims.

I love it too, just don't want to be balls deep in your crease!

I had a great time on there when I criticised the guy who did my piss poor boot install, and the amount of brown nosed kids that replied to the thread sticking up for Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were unreal.  These are the kind of eejuts that make the 'scene' c**tish.  Needless to say I don't post on there anymore.

If I can help, I'll help.  If I can't, I shut the f**k up.

Back to the original post though, i went wh smiths the other day to have a look at Golf+ and its only about 10 pages long! no wonder they have gone under, noones going to buy a golf+ booklet when pvw is 3 times thicker. even if it is just adverts.

And i also noticed that this months golf+ didn't have just golfs in, whats that all about, false advertising if you ask me, why buy a magazine about golfs that has other things than golfs in?

Anyway this is off the website: "READER NOTICE

Total BMW magazine and Golf+ magazine have been acquired by Unity Media and will be closing after the July 2013 issue. If you have a current subscription with either magazine you will shortly be receiving a letter (if you haven't already) explaining the situation. Should you have any questions in the mean time then please email: subs@unity-media.com.

Retro Cars, Retro Ford and Performance Ford are no longer published by Unity Media. Subscribers of these magazines will be contacted by the new publishers."

I had a quick look at it whilst having a number 2

Was a interesting looking array of cars amongst the billions of adverts.. not so sure on it. maybe burning is the way
