Title: Engine Problem!!!

was taking the other half to collage and all of a suden the car just died :sad:  started it up again and the revs was going up and down slightly, no overheating or anything either, any ideas people??

how do i check them? put it in the easiest way possible as im not mechanicly headed and dont want to mess up somthing else, :sad:

thanks. its a aum 2002 engine so im hoping its just that, just completetly died and when restarted the revs was flutering a bit. :angry:

as said try and get it scanned using vag com or a cheap code reader off the bay

just went out to the car and realised a pudle underneath, :angry:. looks like just water???

smell it, or taste it? your radiator may have a hole init or check (looking from the frount of your car) the bottom right hand side of the rad, there is a drainage tap that may of come loose?

hasnt got a smell to it, 1st thing i did was put finger in it. its more at the back of the engine

unpluged 3 of the 4 coil packs, when i unpluged them one at a time on everyone the car idled at 800rpm no problem but when i put plugs back in it started to waver between 600 and 800, havnt checked the last one yet as its under somthing? any clues now?

Give your local VW dealers a ring. Tell them you would like them to check your car for a coil pack recall, they will ask for your reg and book you in if it hasn't been done. Then they will replace all your coil packs free of charge and clean your car while there at it while popping a tin of VW mints and a VW air freshener :)

Total cost to you?
Petrol dropping it off then getting it home. :)

just called local garage 25 mile away :sad: mine hasnt been done!!! so its booked in for wednesday at 2pm. explained it cut out and when restarted the idle started wavering man said thats most likly the cause and its miss firing :grin:..... i take it this is free!!

no the mk5 gti had a re-call to so did my s3 an tt  :grin:

they knocked my 4mo back but have heard of them doing some of them but that was years ago  :smiley:
