Title: sump question
Post by: Rod1-gti on 02 June 2013, 22:27
Dokie Dokie, i have heard the oil pump can block with sludge and cause fatal engine issues. so i have decided to drop the sump and make sure its clear. my question is, how hard is it to remove the sump? I have removed them on older cars but never a mk4.

literally did this about a week ago. Was on an s3, but no difference really. I used a long ball end hex tool to get the 20 sump bolts off. Made life a lot easier. The 3 big bolts were a little fiddly, but got there in the end with them. Also used a wire brush drill bit to clean the inside of the sump.
